Myra Shapiro

Myra Shapiro is an experienced attorney and accomplished administrator with expertise in the areas of child abuse, sex crimes, and Family Law.
Myra is a member of the Attorneys for Children/Assigned Counsel Panel, representing children and indigent adults in Queens Family Court. From 2003 – 2010, Myra was the Senior Director of the Queens Child Advocacy Center (QCAC), a facility-based, multi-disciplinary program that provides comprehensive investigative and treatment services to victims of child sexual and physical abuse and their non-offending family members. Prior to this, from 1991 – 2003, Myra prosecuted juvenile delinquency cases for the NYC Law Department, Office of Corporation Counsel, Family Court Division; and prosecuted child abuse and neglect cases from 1986 – 1990.
Myra was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and was one of the first females to attend the prestigious Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. She then received her BA from SUNY Binghamton and her JD from SUNY Buffalo Law School. She is married to Attorney Christopher Renfroe, whom she met in law school. Myra is the proud mother of Eric Shapiro Renfroe, a law student at Hofstra University, and of Alexa Shapiro Renfroe, at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University.
